Meet CARLO
There is so much beauty around us. I started photography because I wanted to preserve the beauty that I was surrounded by - whether it be breath-taking landscapes or simple everyday moments with my loved ones, I wanted to document everything. I found wedding photography (or wedding photography found me) because I got drawn to documenting beautiful moments for people who love one another. After years of serving couples, I truly believe this is my Ikigai (the Japanese concept of chasing what gives you purpose, value and meaning).
My Philosophy
Growing up in the Philippines with a big family around all the time, I felt peace and joy being around people who love me unconditionally. When I look back at the family albums that captured those times, I am reminded of what truly matters. When I started shooting weddings, I realized that I can give this same gift to my couples through the memories that I document for them. This is what drives me to show up for my clients and document their special day in a way that is honest and artful.
The Inspiration
Agape is the Greek word for the type of love that is characterized as "unconditional and sacrificial" - this is what inspires me. In a highly individualistic world, putting someone else before you in the name of love is a radical act. Serving people by documenting their agape love to one another gives me purpose and inspiration.
Every couple is unique. You can tell so much about who they are by the details that they pick: the venue, the colour scheme, the florals and the type of vibe that is in the air throughout the day. All of these elements paint an essence of the couple's soul.
The imagery that I create aims to put all of these elements into a cohesive story that reflects this essence.
Whether it be stolen glances at one another, flirty touching, or prolonged kisses, everyone has their own way playful way of showing love to their person. I make sure I get to know my couples well so I can create a comfortable environment where they can freely express their playful love for one another.
I intentionally capture these playful expressions because they contribute to the story of my couples.
Intimate moments that reflect my couple's affection for one another naturally happen throughout a wedding day - the first look, holding each other's hands down the aisle, slow dancing together just to name a few.
All of these moments are fleeting and through years of experience, I have developed an intuition on when to anticipate them so I can document and preserve them.
